What an exciting morning we had today! With Ms Cara we finished our week of letter U. We reviewed its formation, sound and words beginning with it. We completed a letter U tracing sheet and also used the dry erase boards to try to write the letter on our own. The children enjoyed coloring a picture of a leprechaun and pot of gold, they were encouraged to take their time to try and stay in the lines. The also enjoyed using the Lincoln logs to build a leprechaun trap. During circle time we discussed symbols of St. Patrick’s Day and learned a song about leprechauns. For story time we read “The Littlest Leprechaun”. With Mrs Lanigan the children enjoyed a special snack of lucky charms and Irish soda bread. For their project they made paper plate leprechaun faces. They used scissors to cut out a rectangle and used glue to add the stripe and buckle on to the hat and plate, they then used an orange marker to make a beard for the leprechaun. The children were so excited to see the mess the leprechaun had created in our room while they were playing outside! Along with the mess the sneaky leprechaun left the children gold coins and a shamrock! Mrs Asim’s group completed a look and find hidden picture worksheet. They also made the paper plate leprechaun faces along with a Irish flag. They discussed the colors of the flag. The sneaky leprechaun also made an appearance in Mrs Asim’s room.
Have a great weekend!
